PAPER BOAT

The Wet Foot, Dry Foot law promises Cuban refugees who touch American soil the right to citizenship. However, what stands between their chance at freedom and a hopeless life in Cuba is 90 miles of open water.  Paper Boat is a narrative film based on real stories-- from real people--who have survived this remarkable journey. Still today, on a near monthly basis, rafters flee Cuba in hopes of reconnecting with loved ones or starting new lives. However to do so, they must first escape Cuba undetected while avoiding sharks, storms, and dehydration. The penalty for a failed attempt is a lifetime of punishment back in Cuba, or perhaps worse... being lost at sea. Written by Hy Conrad (Monk, White Collar) and Craig Hollenback.
*Producer. Pre-production.
